DESCRIPTION:As the season turns\, we turn our thoughts to those who have passed on. Join us for All Souls’ Day Mass as we offer prayers and support for one another in remembrance. Following the service\, snacks will be served\, providing a space for fellowship and sharing memories. \nVenue: St Mary’s Chapel\, Mornington Road\nDate: Sunday\, 3rd Nov 2024\nTime: 9:30 am onwards \n_______________________________________________________________________ \nDid you know?\n\nIn Roman Catholic belief\, an indulgence is a remission of the temporal punishment due to sins which have already been forgiven. It’s like a spiritual credit\, lessening the time a soul might spend in Purgatory being cleansed before entering Heaven. Indulgences can be obtained through prayer\, good works\, and reception of the sacraments. \nDuring All Souls’ Week (November 1st-8th)\, the Church offers special opportunities to obtain plenary indulgences\, which fully remit temporal punishment\, applicable only to the souls in Purgatory.  \nTo obtain a plenary indulgence for the souls in Purgatory during All Souls’ Week (November 1st-8th)\, the faithful must: \n\nBe in a state of grace (free from mortal sin) and have the intention to gain the indulgence.\nReceive the Sacrament of Confession. (This can be done within a few days before or after the other actions.)\nReceive Holy Communion. (This should be done on the day the other actions are performed.)\nPray for the Pope’s intentions. (One Our Father and one Hail Mary is sufficient.)\nPerform one of the following:\n\nVisit a cemetery and pray for the departed. This can be done on any day between November 1st and 8th.\nVisit a church on All Souls’ Day (November 2nd) and pray the Our Father and the Creed.\n\n\n\nThese indulgences offer a powerful way for the faithful to express their love and concern for those who have passed on\, assisting them on their journey towards God.
